The Simple Volumes exercise is a study involving three distinct geometric forms. In a finished piece, each of these three volumes demonstrates a different type of axial movement or spatial articulation: one shows how a rectilinear form can shift direction through a modified straight axis, another explores how a rectangular mass can incorporate curvature into its directional force, and the third examines how a cylindrical form bends through space. Each model must be beautiful and structurally expressive on its own while demonstrating mastery of proportion, axis, and the relationship between form and spatial movement.
